Koh Phayam, Ao Yai, West Coast Thailand

Here we are on route to Koh Phayam (near Ranong border of Burma) enjoying the best season in Thailand for cruising. In company with SV Aqua Dreams and SV CanKata we departed from Nai Yang beach and stopped overnight at Koh Kaa and Koh Ra to eventually reach Koh Phayam Ao Yai 3 days later. Enjoying our cruising company we took photos of each others boats and shared our daily experiences on board.

We arrived at Ao Yai bay first and to enjoy a quiet anchorage with one other yacht. With a long sandy beach we made the most of the early morning and evening exercise. There were plenty of restaurant choices on the beach front and we found great shakes at Friends restaurant. We walked from one side of the island to the other one sunset. Protected by shady trees the entire way it was a pleasant walk of 2 hours. Close to the pier we found a Golden Buddha and temple and offered our prayers in the light of the nearly full moon.

Next morning Richard and I paddled the coast early and paddled again at sunset enjoying the coolness of the evening before the full moon rose. Later that evening we gathered on SV CanKata with Darrel, Loretta and Steve, Julie from SV Aqua Dreams. A picturesque setting with the moon coming up behind the trees; we entertained ourselves with music, food and stories while soaking in the lunar energies of the Aquarian moon.
